FAQs
What is Black Tech Philly?
1
Black Tech Philly is a Philadelphia-based community organization focused on expanding access to technology education, digital literacy, and critical conversations about how technology impacts our daily lives. We work at the intersection of education, community engagement, and policy awareness, helping people better understand technology, build practical skills, and advocate for systems that are safer, fairer, and more equitable.
Our work centers on meeting people where they are through workshops, community conversations, and partnerships with local institutions. As we evolve, our focus remains the same: empowering Black and Brown communities with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate an increasingly digital world.
What type of programs do you offer?
2
We currently offers a focused set of educational workshops and community conversations centered on digital literacy, emerging technology, and public awareness. Our programming emphasizes helping people understand how technology is used in everyday life, particularly in areas like employment, public benefits, artificial intelligence, and digital privacy.
Moving into 2026, we are shifting away from running large scale or ongoing cohorts year-round and prioritizing targeted, high-impact programs developed in collaboration with community partners, libraries, schools, and local institutions. Program offerings may evolve over time based on community needs and capacity.
